My name is Egbert, and within Intrahorti, I manage multiple sales regions, including Asia. A few weeks ago, I visited some partners in Asia to share our expertise with them and jointly promote our product portfolio to customers.
From May 23 to 25, on behalf of Intrahorti, I attended the Hortiflorexpo with our partner Intracare China. Along with approximately 330 exhibitors, more than 60,000 visitors were informed about the latest developments in horticulture. Our hygiene products, were prominently featured and sparked many good discussions. More and more, people in Asia recognize the importance of good hygiene a point that cannot be underestimated. Biosecurity is fundamental to proactively addressing diseases and provides a good foundation for optimal business hygiene. Much of the expertise in this area is derived from the Dutch horticulture sector, which is then applied in Asia.
However, hygiene is still in development, though the topic is gaining attention due to global issues surrounding viruses. Asia presents a market with many opportunities and challenges in this regard.
During my visit with our partners, I spoke with the sales team about the latest innovations and shared our expertise in hygiene and biostimulants. In many Asian regions, efforts are being made to produce self-sufficiently, with investments in building glass greenhouses. This is an investment in larger production to supply their own food chain. Together, we brainstormed about the opportunities and possibilities in hygiene and biostimulants to see how our products could contribute to the horticulture sector in this region.
It is always nice to see how visiting our partners ignites enthusiasm and to have discussions about the possibilities within the sector with our products. A valuable visit with an informal atmosphere contributed to strengthening the relationships further. Together with our partners, we are ready for future-proof growing in Asia. Fewer pesticides, more focus on hygiene and biostimulants.
